HATHA YOGA

The grossest meaning of the word hatha is force, because in the beginning hatha is almost forcing oneself to break bad habits of the body. But it is a soft coercion. It is not coercion like wrestler or a weightlifter. So when one begins to understand where that soft part of the force comes from, the this meaning is removed and then one begins to learn not only about the physical body but about the subtle truth, the cosmic truth, the universal energy fields, the sun and the moon energy. The word ha means sun and the word tha means moon. The Sun is the active, “masculine” right nostril. The moon is the spontaneous”feminine” left nostril breath. In this way how the practice of hatha yoga works on different levels simultaneously.

ASHTANGA VINYASA YOGA

The Ashtanga Yoga of Maharishi Patanjali is known as the eight limbs of yoga. and is also known as Raja Yoga or the royal path of yoga. Ashtanga Yoga includes Yama, Niyama, Asana, Pranayama, Pratyahara, Dharana, Dhyana and Samadhi. It is the path on which a yoga aspirant walks and attains the highest state of awareness (Kaivalya).k. Pattabhi Jois developed a series of asanas known as the Ashtanga series. These include long, vigorous stretches, deep breathing exercises, and especially visualization techniques. Nowadays Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga is a very popular form of flow yoga. You can call it the modern version of the original Ashtanga yoga. There are six series as part of this yoga format. In the first 200 hours of YTTC you will learn about the primary series. The three main elements of this form of yoga are Prana, Bandha and Drishti. First, you need to master the movements and asanas, then add other exercises like svasa bandha and drishti to it.After completing the course, you will be able to practice and teach any pose at your own style and pace. And you can prepare yourself to walk on the majestic path of Yoga.

SHATKARMA

There are three humors in the body.  Phlegm mucus,  bile,  air.  In Yoga and Ayurveda, they are called Tridoshas.  The balanced proportion of these three facilities does the work of the body.  But if one is in excess and the other is deficient, diseases arise due to excess heat or not enough heat in the body.Any imbalance in the doshas should be removed before starting Pranayama. There are six special exercises in hatha yoga that are specially designed for this purpose.  They are called Shatkarma.  Shat is six, karma is action, these techniques control the production of doshas.

PRANAYAMA

Pranayama is an exact science that provides methods to understand the essence of Prana and guide it within oneself as well as the rest of creation. The medium of Pranayama is the breath.  The breath is called the wheel of breath.  The practices involve directing the breath beyond its normal range.  Stretch, speed up and slow it down to experience the full range of breathing on both a gross and subtle level.Regular practice of pranayama from time to time strengthens the cortical control of the breath.  Where a person goes from unconscious to conscious breathing which has a profound effect on his health.

HUMAN ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY

Ancient yogis described the physical benefits of asanas and pranayama according to the model of the five elements;  Earth, water, air, fire and sky.  The model is also being used by the ancient Indian health science of Ayurveda. In today’s education system.  The body is studied according to the anatomy and physiology of modern science.  In this section we will look at some of the physical benefits of yoga exercises in relation to the human physical body.Yoga being mostly a system of self experience, the aim of study is also to improve the physical understanding of your own yoga practice.  In this approach, traditional knowledge and the results of scientific inquiry are presented side by side.

PHILOSOPHY AND PURPOSE OF YOGA

The founders of all religions saw God, they saw it through their souls.  From what they say, they reported and taught techniques for reaching this state of experience.  Transcending the intellect gives the yogi, sage or seer the highest mystical experience or samadhi.  Many people blindly follow credible leaders without knowing the purpose of life and are satisfied only with ritual and traditionEveryone needs to experience the truth within oneself, then only doubts and sorrows will go away.  Yoga gives practical and scientific techniques to find and experience the truth in Dharma.  Just as every science has its own method of investigation, similarly Yoga Science also has its own method.  The purpose of the practice of yoga is to attain Truth, in which the individual soul identifies itself with the Supreme Soul or God

TEACHING METHODOLOGY

While the students are lying on their backs at the beginning of class, the teacher should create a positive atmosphere.  Explain what yoga is, how it can help etc. Helps students develop confidence in the class.  Keep them in a relaxed position, emphasizing body position, breathing, and conscious relaxation.  Use your voice to comfort them.Make sure students fully understand everything.  Answer the questions and look for and correct mistakes, and remember to simplify.  Be clear, positive with your students, and encouraging at all times.

MEDITATION

Meditation is at the core of the practice of yoga.  It is both its main means and destination.  The classical approach to the yoga path of meditation is called Raja Yoga.  This knowledge has been passed on since time immemorial and has been handed down from generation to generation through an unbroken lineage of teachers. In meditation there is constant observation of the mind.  The meditative state transcends all boundaries.  It has neither past nor future, but only the consciousness in the eternal now.  This consciousness is possible only when the mind becomes silent and the mind ceases to exist.  Meditation is a state of consciousness, uninterrupted awareness

MANTRA

A Sanskrit mantra has a mystical energy in its sound structure.  Sound made of vibrations is energy.  To release energy from sound we learn to repeat it within a specific rhythm.  When you start repeating a mantra it creates a specific thought pattern and  Energy literally manifests itself. There are different levels of sound, spoken and unspoken are more powerful that unspoken.  Mantras are energies that have always existed in the universe. There are many benefits of chanting mantra, toxins are flushed out from the body, nervous system is relaxed, feelings of lust, anger, greed, hatred and jealousy are reduced and replaced with sattvic (pure) qualities.

KIRTAN/BHAJAN

The mind is a peculiar combination of various moods, temperaments, whims and fancies, a strange mixture of various feelings, emotions, etc. Hence the sages of ancient times invented various methods to control the mind.  One method described by them is the path of bhakti devotion or selfless love.In Kirtan people join together and sing divine songs collectively in a common place accompanied by musical instruments like harmonium, cymbals, drums etc.  It becomes a manifestation of the attainment of the highest perfection of the Lord.  Kirtan has immense power.  It will remove all the impurities from your mind
